So long, farewell, etc.

Well, Mum has gone back to Australia - and we already miss her! Henry put his new skill of waving to good use, and we all had a bit of a teary farewell. It's good to know that we'll be in Perth in a few months' time, but it's still pretty hard to say goodbye.

In other news, I've been sorting out Henry's citizenship stuff - I'd like to blame bureaucracy for the delays, but if I'm perfectly honest, it's just because I'm terrible at getting stuff done. Today I tried to take passport photos, as the photographer in town seems to be really hard to get a hold of. Cue cuteness:

He has started getting excited when you take a photos, instead of just staring in awe at the camera. In this one, he took a lunge in my direction just as I pressed the button*. Super cute, but not really a passport photo.

* I just spent about five minutes trying to remember if there's a specific word for that button... I want to say something to do with shutters... Do feel free to help me out in the comments.

I think I got a useable one in the end, now I just need to do a test print to see if the resizing worked properly!

And here's three other photos that I love. They just kind of sum up how nice it can be around here.

Tooth and nail

I already posted these on facebook, but the world always needs more photos of my son posing like a dork, right?

Wearing shoes! Like a dude!
Not wearing shoes! Still a dude!

So what has been going on in your life? I have been little-miss-never-posts, possibly because as I have previously mentioned, I kind of write the blog as a never ending catch up email to my mum. And since mum is here and fully caught up on everything that's going on, everyone else misses out! Sorry!

Things have been happening, though:

Henry has been pretty fussy the last couple of nights, and then last night Vicki noticed he had a little tooth coming through! Exciting times.
He's also getting waaaay too good at crawling and pulling himself up on things, I may need to put a bell on him.

I have been knitting a dress and watching Parks and Recreation. Ross keeps laughing at how excited I am about the show - I love it so much. I love everyone on it, and then they add new characters and I love them, too. Seriously, I cannot recommend it enough, although everyone in the whole world has probably seen it already anyway, so I don't even need to.

What else? Mum is here for another week and then she's off - her trip has gone by so quickly! I keep thinking we should have done some exciting things while she was here, but it has been pretty nice just hanging out at home.

And that's about it! Might be time to try to get the dude to take a nap - again. Why doesn't he just sleep when he's tired? Ah well, he'll get the hang of it eventually.

Water water water...

Hello again!

Well, it has been pretty busy around these parts - Vicki has a good summary with heaps of photos, so I won't post any doubles.

Actually, I'm writing from my new laptop (birthday present, thanks Mum and Dad!), so I don't have any of my own photos uploaded yet! What I do have are photos from my sister's magical underwater camera - oooh ahhh.

Not taken underwater. Duh.

Anja, Anna and I took Henry swimming last week, it was totally fun. I was a bit worried because of the last lesson we went to, which featured tears and terror. But it all turned out fine and Henry was a water baby once again.

And now all our guests are gone again - it was so quiet in our house over the weekend, which was kind of nice but also a bit sad. The goodbyes weren't too bad because we have a plan to go back to Perth in five months' time, so that took a lot of the sting out of it.
My mum is down south at the moment, but will be back tomorrow to spend some more quality time with her Henry.

Oh yeah, and speaking of the short guy (am I ever not?), he is now crawling around like a little crab man. He goes from sitting to crawling then sitting again, and has started pulling himself up on whatever is at hand. He hasn't tried the dog yet, but I think it's only a matter of time. What a champ.
